Master Key Systems in Las Vegas
Designed · Charted · Built to Expand
One grand master for you. Department keys for managers. Single-door keys for staff. Every level documented in a key chart you own.
A master key system is not a special key — it's an engineered hierarchy cut into every cylinder in the building. Done right, it means nobody carries more access than their job needs, and you never carry more than one key. Done wrong — grown ad hoc, lock by lock — it collapses into "which key was this again?" We design systems on paper first, then pin every cylinder to the chart.
How the Hierarchy Works
| Key Level | Opens | Who Carries It |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Master | Every door in the system | Owner, top management — one or two people |
| Master | One group — a floor, wing or department | Department managers |
| Sub-master | A section within a group | Supervisors, maintenance |
| Change key | One door only | Individual staff, tenants |
Restricted Keys: The Control Layer
A hierarchy is only as strong as its cheapest copy
On an open keyway, any staff key can be duplicated for a few dollars, silently breaking the pyramid. Building the system on a restricted keyway closes that hole: blanks are contract-controlled and copies require your written authorization. For most businesses this single decision matters more than any individual lock.
Pair it with high security cylinders for drill and pick resistance too
Planning for Expansion
The most common master-key failure isn't a break-in — it's growth. A system charted edge-to-edge has no codes left when you lease the next suite, and the "fix" is rekeying the whole building. We design with reserved key codes at every level, so new doors, new departments, even a second location slot into the existing chart without disturbing a single working key.
Who Runs on Master Key Systems
Schools
Teachers hold classroom keys, custodians hold building masters, admin holds the grand — and lost keys affect one room, not the campus.
Office Buildings
Each tenant keys their own suite; building management masters the common areas and mechanical rooms.
Apartment Complexes
Tenants get unit-only keys; maintenance masters buildings; the office grand-masters the property.
Property Managers
One keyed system across a portfolio: per-property masters under a single management grand, documented per site.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a master key and a grand master?
A master opens one group of doors — a floor or a department. A grand master sits above several masters and opens everything. Change keys open only their own door.
Can a master key system grow with my business?
Yes, if it's planned for expansion. We chart spare key codes into the design so new suites and doors join the system without rekeying everything.
What stops staff from copying their keys?
Restricted keyways. The blanks are contract-controlled, so hardware stores and kiosks can't duplicate them — copies only come from us with your sign-off.
